Southern Congregational Methodist Church: About Us

You need to say our full name or you will get us confused with someone else. We are Southern Congregational Methodist.

Congregational is intended to suggest that each congregation owns it's own property and elects is own pastor. Methodist identifies us as Wesley Armenian in doctrine. We are truly Methodist in the John Wesley tradition.

We believe and preach the basic fundamental doctrines of the historic Christian faith within the framework of traditional Methodism.
* Divine inspiration of the scriptures.
* The new birth.
* The deity of Christ.
* The virgin birth.
* The redemptive death of Christ and His resurrection.
* Entire sanctification as a second definite work of God's grace wrought in the heart by the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
* We do not believe or preach that Speaking in Tongues is the only evidence of this experience. We believe that speaking in tongues is one of the gifts spoken of in 1 Corinthians 12: 1-12.
* The second coming.

The governmental structure of the church is made up of the local church conference (which meets once a month), the District and Annual Conferences (which meet annually), and the General Conference (which meets every 4 years).
